Homework 3

30 points

Complete your homework and submit it to your instructor.

  1. Verify the identity: cos x + sin x tan x = sec x.
  2. Given sine of alpha equals 2/3 and cosine of alpha is less than zero, find the exact value of the other five trigonometric functions.
  3. Verify: cos(180° + x) = -cos x.
  4. Find the exact value for sin(x + y) if sin(x) = -4/5 and cos(y) = 15/17. Angles x and y are in the fourth quadrant.
  5. Find the exact value for cos 165° using the Half-Angle Identity.
  6. Verify the identity: 1 - cos 2x = tan x sin 2x.
HINT: You will have to work with both sides of this equation.
