Let’s put all of these identities together and work on some examples.

Example 1:

Simplify csc(x)/cot(x).

Using the reciprocal and quotient identities:

csc x/cot x = (1/sin x)/(cos x/sin x) = 1/sin x * sin x/cos x = 1/cos x = sec x
